Country Music Star Randy Travis Reveals Life-Changing Health Diagnosis

Randy Travis is one of the biggest country performers ever, selling over 25 million records. He has seven Grammys, 11 CMAs, and 10 ACMs. Country Music Hall of Fame inductee 2016.

After Randy's 2013 stroke, Mary discussed his condition. Aphasia—brain disease that impairs speech—was his diagnosis.

Travis, a great singer, has limited speech. Mary said so many country stars honoring his work means a lot to him. “Just to know that he made the music that he made and that it lasts.” Randy nodded as Mary spoke.

Travis, a 1959 Marshville, North Carolina native, started singing in church and playing guitar with his father. Travis traveled to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue a music career after high school.

Travis initially signed with Warner Bros. Records in 1985. "Storms of Life," his 1986 debut, sold well.
